Could not agree more Dan. Garth failed during last summer big time. Garth and Cappy have been too comfortable for far too long.

Good assessment, Dan. I didn't expect much of anything yesterday, but Snow needs to be a little more objective and open minded when assessing the status of his young players. I feel like he absolutely refuses to consider moving any young players or high picks and that is why his deals for guys like Prince are the norm. At some point, this team is going to have to get bold in the trade market and address some of the glaring needs and issues on this team. They'll continue to be solid and may even get a little better as presently constituted. But will they get over the hump from "competitive" to "contender" as constituted? I don't think so.

Unfortunately, the time for this boldness will be in the summer. I don't think the deadline was the appropriate time for Snow to get bold. But he has to move Hammer and he is going to lose at least one of Nielsen and KO, if not both. Those guys will need to be replaced and they are not getting replaced by Prince, Dal Colle, Barzal and the like next season if the team wants to compete. Snow will have to make moves to bring in players of the caliber (or better) than what is going out the door come July.

I feel like the Islanders could have traded Hamonic and Okposo and got some value back, or even some of their prospects for an upgrade or one of Edmonton's forwards that seemed to all be on the block. I sense the frustration from the fans, you had a good run last year, and with all the talent in the system, if i was a fan, I would expect the organization to make some moves to be better this year then they were last. Regardless of what it was, do something, show us something, show us you want to take the next step

I feel this current team when it plays well can do some damage. We have good pieces in place. For whatever reason, we never seem to find a consistent game which is why we see so many win/loss streaks

Yup. No strait or zidlicky either. Glad I won't have to see either live this year.

60 minute efforts have been rare this year.

Appreciate it. Have him and Halak on my fantasy team and it's always a guessing game.

So what top 4 Dman were they getting back to replace Hamonic right now for the playoffs?

General consensus amongst Isles fans: should have moved Okposo or are you happy he's still here?

I think it was too late to move KO at the deadline without having a replacement.

I didn't see anybody coming in with similar numbers to replace him so I would say yes. Are these the same fans who say enough with the draft picks we have enough picks and prospects its time to win now? Trading KO for a 2nd rd pick and mid level prospect does nothing for me so I would rather take my chances in the playoffs with him and let the chips fall where they may

I didn't see the point in moving him, however I wouldn't sign him in the summer unless he'd take 5 mil per for 5 years. any higher or longer and that money is wasted.

per Isles.com
Shane Prince will make his Islanders debut Tuesday and will get a shot on the top line with John Tavares and Ryan Strome. Prince was acquired from the Ottawa Senators on Monday for a 2016 third-round pick. He has 12 points (3G, 9A) in 42 games this season for Ottawa.

“He’s got some speed and deception to his game,” Capuano said of Prince. “We have a group here that we feel he can fit in with and hopefully give us some offense. He’s going to get an opportunity to play with 91 tonight.”

Shopping for prospects? NOT.

Has Shane attended the minimum number of team meetings yet?

This is a break in protocol, no?

we finally shuffle strait and zidlicky to the pressbox at the same time and we have people wanting hamonic moved before the summer.

if pulock plays well, pelech comes back and plays at the same level, then hamonic could be moved in the summer. we need him badly for the playoffs.

Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Carolina, Edmonton, Columbus, etc.. were all selling. Hamonic wants out, get on the phones and find a team that has interest in him.
Call Boston, ask about Seidenberg....
There is no shortage of options.

Innn......West-ern New York, born and raised
On the ice rink is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin, relaxin all cool
And playin' junior hockey instead of goin' to school
Got paired with Chris Neil and that was no good
Started makin' me play not-so-good
I got stuck on one little 4th line and my GM called me in
He said "you're movin' to the Isles, down in Brook-lyn"

I Uber'ed a car, when I saw it came near
The license plate said WANG and I saw Chuck in the mirror
If anything, I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought "nah, forget it" YO HOMIE TO THE BARCLAYS CENT-AIRE

I pulled up to the rink, played with nine-one and one-eight
And I yelled to the cabbie "yo homes, smell ya later"
I looked my kingdom, I was finally on the top line
Gonna sit on my throne, as the Fresh Prince of Bed-Stuy

Why would the Isles trade Okposo when they have about a 95% chance of making the playoffs?

It's one thing to get on Snow for doing nothing to help now, but trading away KO now would have been actively hurting the current team.

Nicely said.

I just have a feeling that the market might not be fair to Okposo. He might be asking for 7-8 but might have to settle for 5-6
